Bellydancing in Madison
Catch bellydancing at the Casbah every Thursday night at 7:00 and 8:00 pm in the upstairs dinning room, where Madison's own El Genneyya Bellydancing Troupe members perform solos in the American Cabaret Bellydancing style. El Genneyya Bellydancing Troupe also performs at the Casbah on the first Monday of every month with a wide range of lessons, performances, and an open dance floor from 8:00 pm - Midnight. The Technocracy was fortunate enough to record an in-studio interview with none other than socially conscious poet and rapper Sage Francis, who performed in Madison with fellow hip-hoppers Sole and Sol-ILLaquists of Sound.

The Technocracy is an electronic music and hip hop focused radio show on WSUM, the University of Wisconsin's student radio station. Hosted by Ryan West, the show, currently on hiatus, was broadcast to the Madison metro area on 91.7 fm. A streaming webcast of the station is available at WSUM.org.
The Technocracy features music spanning a multitude of genres that do not typically have a home on the airwaves, including house, techno, ambient, hardcore, drum & bass, dub, dancehall, underground hip hop, beatboxing, international and local artists, and more.

Installments of The Technocracy will frequently include a segment entitled Tech School, a more in-depth exploration of a particular topic relating to electronic music–a chance to learn about the musicians, technology, and history behind this most modern form of musical expression. Past topics have included looks at the careers of Underworld, Giorgio Moroder, Jeff Mills, an interview with Sage Francis, and a look at the venerable synth/sequencer, the Roland TB-303 Bassline.
